Block-Coded PSK Modulation Using Two-Level Group Codes Over Dihedral Groups
نویسندگان
چکیده
A length n group code over a group G is a subgroup of G under component-wise group operation. Group codes over dihedral groups DM , with 2M elements, that are two-level constructible using a binary code and a code over ZM residue class integer ring modulo M , as component codes are studied for arbitrary M . A set of necessary and sufficient conditions on the component codes for the two-level construction to result in a group code over DM are obtained. The conditions differ for M odd and even. Using two-level group codes over DM as label codes, performance of block-coded modulation scheme is discussed under all possible matched labelings of 2M-APSK and 2M-SPSK (asymmetric and symmetric PSK) signal sets in terms of the minimum squared Euclidean distance. Matched labelings that lead to Automorphic Euclidean Distance Equivalent codes are identified. It is shown that depending upon the ratio of Hamming distances of the component codes some labelings perform better than other. The best labeling is identified under a set of restrictive conditions. Finally, conditions on the component codes for phase rotational invariance properties of the signal space codes are discussed.

On block-coded modulation using unequal error protection codes over Rayleigh-fading channels
This letter considers block-coded 8-phase-shiftkeying (PSK) modulations for the unequal error protection (UEP) of information transmitted over Rayleigh-fading channels. Both conventional linear block codes and linear UEP (LUEP) codes are combined with a naturally labeled 8-PSK signal set, using the multilevel construction of Imai and Hirakawa [1]. Computer simulation results are presented showi...

{ An asymptotical analysis and comparison of two coded modulation systems using phase shift keying (PSK) signaling with the transmission taking place over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is provided. In the rst part of the paper, bounds for the decoding error probability of conventional coded modulation are derived. Both block and trellis coding are considered. The state-comple...
متن کاملA concatenated coded modulation scheme for error control
This paper presents a concatenated coded modulation scheme for error control in data communications. The scheme is achieved by concatenating a Reed-Solomon outer code and a bandwidth efficient block inner code for M-ary PSK modulation. Error performance of the scheme is analyzed for an AWGN channel. We show that extremely high reliability can be attained by using a simple M-ary PSK modulation i...
متن کاملOn linear structure and phase rotation invariant properties of block M-PSK modulation codes
In this correspondence, we investigate two important structural properties of block 2tary PSK modulation codes, namely: linear structure and phase symmetry. For an AWGN channel, the error performance of a modulation code depends on its squared Euclidean distance distribution. Linear structure of a code makes the error performance analysis much easier. Phase symmetry of a code is important in re...

We derive theoretical limits on the performance and show how to design multilevel coding schemes and bit{interleaved coded modulation. Since Gray labeling is not possible for multiple symbol di erential detection and PSK constellations, bit{interleaved coded modulation exhibits seve...
